how to use nutrient paste dispenser

Also, is the thing connected to electricity? From memory I think it requires 200W of power.

It only draws food in when they grab a meal, it doesn't store paste inside but creates it on demand.

Also remember that your colonists don't like paste and won't use the dispenser unless there's no better option available or they have been restricted to it. So if there's a stack of meals they can eat, they will ignore the paste dispenser.

The paste dispenser is awesome if you can afford the small mood debuff for eating icky paste.

No cook needed, no food poisoning, uses almost half the ingredients of a simple meal. The thing is great if you don't need the mood buff from fine meals.

Aside from being one tile further forward than it needs to be that looks 100% fine. They will probably try and eat the simple meals first because they have no mood debuff unlike paste and pawns only take meals from the dispenser when hungry.

The dispenser only works when a pawn interacts with the dispenser. It is not like a stove.

Right clicking on the paste dispenser with a hungry pawn should never give that response, right clicking on the full hoppers will because that isn't where you get the food from, thats where you put the raw ingredients.

You are right clicking on the dispenser itself yes? Because that is how you force someone to use the dispenser.

1. Are they allowed to eat nutrient paste? (Check Assign tab)
2. Are they allowed to eat anything else? (Check Assign tab)
3. Do not take active role for pawns to get them to eat from dispenser. (You cannot left-click pawn, and then right-click dispenser).
4. Instead, you are asking pawn to merge/haul food into hopper when you get the message of "no stack available"

I cannot right click it with anyone. It do absolutely nothing.

Oh I got it. I allowed them only nutrient paste in the assign tab and it works. Thanks guys, for your help.

You generally don't want to force them to use the dispenser anyway, they need to be hungry enough and they cannot be allowed to eat anything but nutrient paste if you want them to automatically eat.

Also, if you want your colonists to eat from the dispenser it cannot be in a prison cell.

that blueprint of power line, isn't finished yet. I wonder if you have power going to it?

ie, it's not operational yet without power and that's why the pawns aren't using it.

Edit:NM you forced them by only allowing nutrient paste, which means there is power. In that case, the last thing I could think of is, make sure there isn't other food available, so they will pick the nutrient paste option.
